I have been slacking off on this pretty bad but anyways. Weds I went to Streeter's catering and got a quote from them. we are most likely going with them for the wedding. We have been going back and forth with this food ordeal. We were supposed to have a business friend who owns a restaurant cater but his restaurant is very small and we would also need wait staff. So we would probably end up having to hire wait staff anyways, plus a bar tender. So we finally made the decision to try Streeter's. David's parents have used them for years to cater parties etc. So it wasn't unfamiliar territory. The catering manager who is most likely an owner (family business) was very helpful and super nice. I'm excited to go with them. It's just one more thing I can check off my list and not think about anymore.
Today!
I will be going to David's parents to meet with a new cake lady. Actually she's young, my age. She was recommended to us by a good family friend (also the guy who is doing my hair for the wedding). He owns Lyon's salon in South Miami. He recommended this girl to us, that he uses her for all his events. So we decided to give her a call. Her website had some impressive cake photos. Plus her cake flavors and fillings sounded pretty good. Check it out Filled and Frosted.
And in other news. I have started yet another wedsite. The blog I follow finally decided to make their designs free, so I changed m wedsite to one of their designs. It was a design I had originally wanted but since it wasn't free I went with another website. check the new one out Michelle and David.
OK, til next time.
We are officially newlyweds! So this will be a post wedding blog. Anything and everything related to being a married old couple, but still having fun as if we just met.

It's been a while
I have been slacking pretty bad on the posts. Reason being that David and I finally moved. We have been in our new place for almost a month now and it's been great. WE just got internet hooked up Monday, so now I will be able to get back into the swing of things.
Since my last posting on pistils and petals, I haven't done too much more. We will NOT be going with our almost $6,000 quote for flowers from Pistils and Petals. I'm sure they do fabulous work, but my wedding can't afford to be THAT fabulous. I knew that flowers were going to be an issue considering I want real flowers, and all the flowers I wants are the ones that are most expensive. UGH.
So we are trying to buy our own centerpiece containers at an extremely discounted price from an online retailer. And then we are talking with, yet another business acquaintance who's wife does flowers to see if she can give us a better rate. It's amazing how much money people spend on weddings. There are a lot of things that have come up that I have completely said no to just based on the price. Call me cheap but I will NOT pay $780 for delivery, set up and pick up. Sorry. It's outrageous how much people charge for stuff.
Flower ideas are fairly set in stone, but no contracts have been signed or agreements made.
The cake is yet again an issue. Susie's was delicious but again, the cost was too high. I am looking into a few other places for the cake.
Save the dates and invitations. HA! We are getting this almost free. Did I already post this? David owns a screen printing company and I had mentioned to him from the beginning that I wanted his talents involved somewhere in the wedding. Whether it be printing T-shirts, or designing napkins or whatever. I assumed that the invitations might be a little much to do. But when we started getting ideas and quotes, I realized that my ideas and visions were not available in print. I couldn't find anything I wanted at any stationary store or online store I went to. You get all caught up in the letterpress, embossed, heat embossed, bla bla bla invitations and then you have to factor in if you want envelope liners, envelopes, response cards, etc etc. I found 1 design I liked a lot, but it wasn't fitting into the themes as nicely as I had hoped. So I took that idea and went to David and said, can we make this? something similar to this but instead of this I want this here and that there and bla bla. So the decision was made- David is designing and printing both the save the dates and invitations. The only thing we have to pay for is paper.
The Save The Dates have already been designed, but we were having issues getting the paper samples, and then we had to fix a few things on the STD and again etc, etc. So now we are a month behind in sending the, and I still don't think I even have everyone's address. :-/ Ohwell, I guess they just won't get invited. :) So we decided on a few samples of paper, and my full size samples came in today. So hopefully tomorrow David will print a few tests runs and see which paper the design looks better on.
Phew, this is a lot of info. That I'm sure no one is reading.
Ok that's it for now. Until next week.
