something old, something new...

So today I went to my second dress fitting after alterations. I'm so happy with the way my dress fits. I was really worried but it fits great. I also tried on some potential jewelry options. I think I made my decisions on that as well. Strange how I end up using things I never thought I would. Well I am on my way to Tampa to record Los Bastardos and I'm super stoked.

Oh yea, we got a 2nd gift already. I'm loving this wedding thing.

New Registry...Man Registry

Well I'm glad to say that David has involved himself with the registry process. He decided that kitchen wares are no fun, sometimes they aren't and took the initiative to start his own registry. We now have a registry at Amazon.com.

Go check it out. It's pretty entertaining.

Candy, Marmalade and Hives

ok, today was a very productive day.
I am so grateful for David's mom and grandmother. They have been a huge help in wedding arrangements. Thank God for Grandma Lucy's canning expertise. We made about 1/4 of the marmalade. Cut all the fabric for the jars, HUGE candy shipment came in.

Minor setback, I woke up this morning with hives! Must be a combination of stress, dieting, cleansing, and food allergies. They went down for a little earlier after taking Benadryl, but they are at their worst right now. They have flamed back up, I have taken 4 Bendryl today, including 2 about 2 hours ago. They have not made me as drowsy as I had hoped they would. Usually I take them and I knock out...not this time! Too many things going on I can't rest. But I am happy at the progress we've made with wedding stuff.

It's crazy how much work goes into a wedding. It is stressful even as low maintenance as I am, I worry about stupid little details like should the invitations say # for apt numbers or Apt, and if we are going to have paper straws or not, or if I'm going to paint my nails french or a solid color. UGh all these ridiculous decisions that mean nothing in the end.

I started typing this on Tue I think. My hives are going away, they went from my head to my toes in like 3 days. They are clearing up finally. Here are some pictures of very exciting wedding stuff. While we were working on some things a fire started across the street from the Miller Residence. Some kids started a fire and the neighbors fence was burning, along with all the bushes etc. The fire dept came and put it out. Our day was without a boring moment.

Our HUGE candy shipment came in and David's mom had to make sure I didn't open any packages. I wanted gummy frogs so bad!

Last night a crate and barrel box came and I said to David "hey I wonder what that is. Crate & Barrel, do you think it's for us?" (yes we're registered at C&B) David responded with "no it's not for us! That early?!" So sure enough David's mom was like "what package?!" we brought it in, opened it and dun dun dun.....
It WAS a wedding gift!!! Our first wedding gift! From my friend of 20 years' parents! I was soooooo excited. It made all the stress and hives disappear for my moment of bliss. David's mom says I'm a cheap date. Most things don't excite me or even incite a smile or reaction in me, but then other times I get really excited over the simplest things. It was so cool to get that gift! Here it is!

a Deep Fryer! Oh yea, no dieting AFTER the wedding. I can't wait to make deep fried twinkies. and pancake puppies, and cheesecake bites, and deep fried oreos, and deep fried brownies. OMG the possibilities are ENDLESS!!!!
It's amazing how the first gift put this whole wedding into a realty. Something I have dreamed about and wanted for so many years is finally happening and it's almost here. I'm getting married in less than 60 days and it's going to be so much fun!

chocolate showers

I thought I took more pictures but I guess not. We made 113 dark chocolate mustache lollipops today. I put together a guest list for a bridal shower David's aunts and cousin are throwing for me.
I also took my wedding band, handed down from David's grandmother, to the jeweler to get sized.

Tomorrow I go to work and then I am on a mission to get my phone fixed because it won't charge.

We got a few things accomplished.
So many more things to do, but at least we made a dent in it.

1st zilla day of 2011

David's grandmother is in town until the wedding so today was our first zilla day of the year. We went over the guest list and I have to say I'm a little concerned. We had originally cut back the list but it seems like it got back up there in numbers. I hope everything works out and we have enough space.

The cake is ordered. Pffewww.

We were also designing some special attractions for the wedding. David's moms really good friend Sonny, is the master artist. He was sketching out some details and things for our fun section :).

Here are some photos of us working very diligently.

New Year and the countdown begins...

We are finally in 2011 and it seemed so far away a few months ago, but the time flew by. We are like 2 months and a week away from the wedding. I know that the time will FLY by very fast. I was finally able to get my sister's dress today. We took forever to order it, that we ended up having to put a rush on it. Hopefully it gets here in time. :/

David's grandmother is down from Ohio which means wedding organizing is in the works. She is going to be a huge help for the wedding. We have a lot to do in the next two months.

It's so crazy. I remember dreaming about my wedding as a girl and then as a teenager and in my early twenties. I've pretty much been thinking of and imaging it forever. Originally I envisioned this huge wedding with a ton of people in some garden or the Biltmore or something similar. Within the last couple years though, I had been picturing the wedding at David's parents house, much more downsized than I originally envisioned and just simple. As simple as I had hoped to make our wedding, there is still so much involved. It's crazy the amount of work that goes into a wedding. Grant it, the wedding isn't turning out as simple as we had planned but it's still much less extravagant than most weddings. We are doing most of it ourselves that way I can do what I actually want rather than what a venue will do or a wedding planner suggests.

Since I am only doing this once in my life, there were some things I wanted to do that would make it really fun, and unlike the normal boring cliche wedding. I don't want to reveal any info though because I don't want to let out all the fun stuff. At the same time I don't want to send the wrong message across that we are having circus performers and carnival rides. As much as I would like carnival rides and sword swallowers, we still have a budget, and those things just aren't in the budget. Plus my request for midgets on unicycles was voted out. :( We will have a few "carnival" inspired things. I'm bummed that my dogs can't be present. Strict orders from the mother in law- no dogs allowed. :(

ok, well I hope after all the work, it was all worth it.

Til next rant...
